Amazon is starting a Christmas gift certificate program that will let people buy Amazon originals and Amazon original video.
The company said Monday that it would give away 100 million gift certificates to consumers.
“Amazon originals are some of the most widely used video content in the world, and they’re uniquely accessible to millions of customers,” Amazon said in a statement.
The program will offer Amazon original DVDs, DVDs and Blu-ray titles as well as Amazon original streaming services.
Amazon said the program would be open to the public in late 2018.
Amazon is known for its original video content.
It has been the primary video destination for millions of people, but it is losing ground to Netflix, which has more than 10 million original video subscriptions, CBS News reported.
The move to gift certificates comes as Amazon is struggling to keep up with rising demand for video content on streaming services such as Netflix.
Amazon has been adding streaming services to its business, including video-on-demand, where it has been acquiring a large portion of content.
Amazon and Netflix have been trying to reach a cord-cutter audience and are pushing to bring more streaming video services to the Internet.
